Marisa Costa

PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATE (Independent Practice)

I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Chieti G. D’Annunzion, Italy in 2006, followed by a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the Centro Nazionale di Alta Formazione, Rome, Italy in 2013 as well as a Master’s of Clinical Psychology from the University La Sapienza, Rome, Italy in 2013.

I tend to incorporate various approaches to therapy including Psychodynamic Theory, Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Client-Centered approaches. I am also trained in Brainspotting, a focused treatment method that works to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain.

For the past 8 years, I have been working in the field of mental health and addictions providing services to both adolescents and adults. A diverse training background and work experience has led to my ability to work with a variety of presenting issues and populations. My clinical interests include working with people who have experienced trauma, mental health issues (e.g., anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and co-occurring disorders), grief and loss, stress, relationship challenges, and addictions.
