I am excited to join the Peace of Mind Therapy team in a student capacity. At Peace of Mind Therapy & Consultation I am supervised by Dr. Penner Hutton as I complete a required field placement. I have a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Work degrees, both received from the University of Manitoba. I am currently a Registered Social Worker through the Manitoba College of Social Workers. I have been involved in social services for the last 8 years working in areas of community development, domestic violence, and crisis intervention, alongside providing counselling services.

As a Certified WrapAround Facilitator, I have experience working from a systems approach, acknowledging the intersectionality of different domains in its effects to one’s social identity. In meeting with clients, I honour their experiences by acknowledging the social and economic barriers that can impact their mental health. Alongside this, I focus on providing a strengths-based and client-centered approach, through intentions of working in collaboration with individuals regarding their therapeutic goals.

My approaches stem from theories of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), providing insight on what is individually in and out of one’s control to identify ideas of acceptance, change and skill building. I have provided counselling services to individuals experiencing issues of anxiety, depression, intergenerational trauma, relationship issues, family conflict and life changes.

My aim in working alongside clients is to provide a non-judgmental and welcoming space that allows for exploration of one’s thoughts, feelings and goals in their personal journey. Intervention and counselling plans are tailored to best suit the individual’s needs, identifying them as the experts in their lives. My role in supporting individuals to reflect on their resiliency, strength and individual skill set is to emphasize on these traits with clarity of their capacity in making positive life changes.
