Therapy for Children
At Peace of Mind, we offer various therapy types for children. Therapies offered include play therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), mindfulness, and parenting support (attachment-based approaches).
Play is an important component of therapy when working with children. It is our goal to ensure your child’s experience at our clinic is engaging and promotes learning and growth.
Anxiety - general worry or anxiety, social anxiety, phobias (e.g., fear of dogs, fire), panic, selective mutism
Depressed Mood - feeling down, unhappy or hopeless
Reactions to stressful life events (e.g., divorce, bullying, neglect, attachment disruptions) and traumatic events (e.g., motor vehicle accidents, fires, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse) including PTSD
Neurodivergent - recognizing strengths and challenges with symptoms of ADHD, ASD, Learning DisAbilities
Childhood behaviour issues & emotional dysregulation- difficulties regulating emotions, thoughts, & behaviours

Evidence-based therapies that have been proven effective, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, and psychodynamic approaches are utilized for helping adults.
